    August 30-31, 2008 - Tri-County Fair - Marvell, Arkansas

    Jackie Early reports:
The members from Phillips county, Arkansas set up a six day booth at the Tri-County Fair in Marvell, AR. We started washing horses and taking them to the Fair on Sat, Aug 30 and Sun , the 31st.

We did not have any Foster horses in this area so we took our adopted horses and entered them. We put their old web page and before pictures on the stalls as done at the Expo and hung up clear sheet protectors stuffed with cards and brochures. We had our Sprite, Janice Glover's Ranger, Rick and Janelle Cobb's Patches, and Donna Faulkner's Aleeah. We set up the booth on Sun and the Fair started on Mon, Sept 1, Labor Day. The exhibit building was not air-conditioned and it was blazing hot. We had a wonderful day with as much conversation about BEHS at the livestock barn as we did at the booth. Even the two days Gustav rained out the fair (Tues & Wed -14 inches of rain) did not keep us away from the barn as we still went to feed and made more contacts then too. Our theme in the booth reflected the before pictures of our 4 horses as well as some "after pictures" and then we invited them to see them live in stalls. We also showed the "Before and after DVD" continuously on the the wall in the booth. It made some big impressions. We got one new member that week who lives in the area but is going to VET school at Mississippi State.

Everyone wanted to take Sprite and Ranger home with them. We could have found homes for them if they had not been adopted already. We are so proud of all of the horses because they were on their best behavior. Ranger, who is so shy was even letting people pet him. We just could not believe it.

Well, now for more news. Our booth won 1st place in the Non Profit Division and a check for $75.00 to BEHS.

The horses all won 2 blue ribbons and Aleeah and Ranger won reserve Grand Champion. (Janelle's personal horse won Grand Champion). We had a great but tiring week. Sunday, we took the booth down, made two trips to West Helena to take the horses home and crashed!
