    BEHS 321- Charley Horse

    Rainbow Bridge 2010

    Approx. 1985 Grade gelding

Charley Horse came to BEHS as part of a neglect case. He was emaciated and lethargic when he arrived, but he slowly recovered from the neglect he suffered at the hands of his previous owner. His foster family said he was a sweet horse, and they fell in love with him. His vet believed he was at least 25 years old. He recovered from neglect, and he enjoyed several happy months with a full belly and lots of love. Charley Horse left us due to complications of old age, and he leaves behind a grieving foster family.

Charley Horse would like to thank:
    Shirley W.

    BEHS 415- Hopeful

    Rainbow Bridge 2010

    Approx. 2000 Sorrel grade mare

Hopeful and two other horses were abandoned at a vet’s office in 2009. Imagine the office staff’s surprise when they arrived one more to find three emaciated horses in their paddocks with no owner. Fortunately the county placed the horses with BEHS, and Hopeful quickly gained weight. She was adopted but then returned to Bluebonnet because she wasn’t well-trained. She was easy to saddle and bridle and climb onboard, but she didn’t want to move out once she had a rider on her back. Once she came back to BEHS, she went to a few foster homes. She had problems with chronic abscesses and founder, and despite good care, she continued to get worse. The rescue made the decision to let her go. Hopeful will be missed by everyone who knew her.

    BEHS 060 - Silver

    Rainbow Bridge January 6, 2010

    1976-1981, Quarter Horse Gelding

Silver's owners were reported for neglect and decided to donate him since they were unable to care for him. He has severe arthritis in both front feet and was emaciated. He gained weight quickly and arthritis supplements helped keep him more comfortable but he was not ridable. A wonderful person adopted him as a companion to another horse. Silver's companion died of old age, and a few months later Silver also died of old age. His adopter loved him dearly and will always miss both him and his companion.

    Silver would like to thank:
