BEHS 516 - Annie
Adopted January 31
2010 Paint filly
Happy news! Baby Annie came into Bluebonnet, in November of last year, having been orphaned at three months old and neglected.
She came in with an adult mare and seemed to have 'adopted' her as 'mom', but it wasn't the same. Before being ready for adoption, Annie needed to learn
to trust and be handled by humans, to eat grain, learn h...erd behavior, etc. Her foster mom worked diligently with her and she did well. Annie was adopted
and went to her new family this past weekend. When she grows up, she wants to be a nice pleasure horse. In the meantime, she will continue her training and
look very cute doing so! Congratulations to Annie and her adopter, Andrea L.
Annie would like to thank:

Adopted February 6
2006, grade, stock-type gelding
Congrats to Bara and the Risner family! Bara came to BEHS a year ago - from a neglect case in which he had been
left tied to a tree for years. He recovered from neglect and started training with his foster home. He showed off his skills in the Bluebonnet
Rescue Horse Training Challenge. The Risner family saw him on the website and fell in love. They've already sent several glowing emails about
how he's doing. This is the kind of adoption that makes everyone happy!

Congrats to the adorable donkey Bentley! He came into BEHS earlier this year as part of
a group of abandoned donkeys. His foster "mom" picked him up but soon thought he was too much for her. We were looking
for another home for him when she asked us to wait. He was starting to come around and she was starting to fall in
love. I'm glad we waited - because she DID fall in love and adopted him!

BEHS 466- Branigan O'Blue
Adopted May 21
March 2010 Paint filly
Branigan was born in a BEHS foster home. Her mom had been removed from negligent
owners and was already pregnant when she was placed with BEHS. Branigan was born healthy and grew up never
knowing neglect – in fact, she didn’t want for anything. Her foster home took great care of her and worked
hard to teach Branigan to be a good equine citizen. She was adopted in 2010 but returned about six months
later. Fortunately, someone who had wanted to adopt her originally but didn’t speak up until after she was
already adopted was still waiting for her. He adopted her the day she was returned to BEHS!

back roads of an east Texas county along with four other donkeys and a mule. He hadn't been
handled before coming to BEHS but quickly figured out that people had FOOD and he loves his
food! He learned to like petting, lead, tie and do all the other things Good Equine Citizens
do. And during that time, his foster home's updates helped him steal the heart of his
adopters. Congrats to Buddy Holly, Darrin and Lisa!

Congrats to Cullens! He came to BEHS in 2009 - a very scrawny, badly injured, untrusting little colt. His foster
home worked hard with him - gaining his trust while treating his many injuries (inflicted by a stallion who had attacked him). Slowly he
recovered, but the injuries left him scarred and unattractive to many. Fortunately, Peggy Jo saw past the exterior wounds and fell in love

BEHS 101 - Dixie
Adopted early 2011
1996 Sorrel Quarab mare
Dixie came to BEHS in 2006, horribly emaciated and with an injury to one leg.
Her foster home nursed her back to health. Her foster home discovered that despite her badly sway back
(which was a congenital deformity), Dixie was broke to ride. Unfortunately Dixie’s back deterred many
people from adopting her. She then met her adopter in 2009 – they adopted her and enjoyed spending time
with her. Unfortunately they discovered they could not keep her. They found her a new home who adopted
her, and she’s now a children's riding horse.

Congrats to the Harvey Family and their new horse Texas! They look pretty happy together,
don't they?! Texas is a miniature horse who came into BEHS earlier this year as part of a neglect case. He recovered
quickly and has turned out to be a great friend to his new family. (And if you are looking for a mini for your family,
we still have his pal 'Captain' available for adoption!)

BEHS 485- Viento
Adopted April 22
2007 Paso Fino gelding
Another piece of happy Monday news! Viento was adopted over the weekend. This
gorgeous Paso boy came into BEHS last fall and was barely handleable. His foster home donated training with
an experienced Paso trainer and he was quickly adopted out. Unfortunately he was too much horse for his
adopter, so she returned him. His previous foster home is a huge Paso Fino fan, so she decided to go ahead
and give him a home. Congrats to Viento and Marianne!

Adopted October 17
2002 Pinto pony mare
Windy has been searching for the right fit for a long time - she's an adorable pony, but she
has a huge attitude! The Skinner family has several kids to ride her and the experience to train her well. Look for Windy
and the Skinners at horse shows and playdays - we expect great things!
