BEHS 259- Aladdin

Rainbow Bridge 2011
Approx. 2003 Black draft cross gelding
Aladdin came to BEHS in 2008 from a neglect case - he was a huge draft cross who was severely emaciated.
Thanks to the good care of his foster "mom" he gained weight. He had a wonderful quiet personality and
she adopted him. In late 2010, she let him go to another home who had recently lost their riding horse.
Sadly he suffered an injury and crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. Our sympathies go to Pippa, Kathy
and everyone who knew and loved Aladdin. Thank you for being there for him when he needed you the most.
Aladdin would like to thank:

BEHS 149 - Charity
Rainbow Bridge 2011
2002 Sorrel Quarter horse mare
Charity came into BEHS in 2007 - she had been badly abused and was covered in physical and emotional scars.
A couple of great foster homes worked to help heal her body and spirit, and she was adopted out in 2008 by
a wonderful woman. We just found out that Charity left us a few months ago after a battle with an illness.
Our sympathies go out to her adopter who loved her dearly and to the foster homes who knew and loved her.
Once a horse is part of the Bluebonnet family, she leaves a part of herself with each person she touches.

BEHS 427 - Granite
Rainbow Bridge 2011
2005 Dark sorrel grade gelding
Granite was a nice, young gelding that found his adopters at our Expo last year. He was a sweet, handsome
horse, with a fun personality and a lot of potential. While at the trainer, with his adopter this week
, Granite went into a panic, bolted away, was unable to clear a fence and suffered life threatening injuries.
He was very special to his foster mom, Carolee F. and to his adopter, Sandra C. (and family). Granite will
me sorely missed all that knew and loved him.
RIP, Handsome Granite

BEHS 223 - Hondo
Rainbow Bridge 2011
2007 Cremello grade gelding
Hondo was a yearling when he came to BEHS - wild and unhandled. He began to
learn that humans brought food and good petting and slowly came around. He
was adopted but later returned. He spent the next year in a foster home
before leaving to go for training. He was doing great in training when he
suffered a tragic accident and left this world.
Hondo would like to thank:

BEHS 143 - Patchouli
Rainbow Bridge 2011
1981 Paint mare
Patchouli was an older mare when she came to BEHS in 2007. She was
underweight but recovered well. Although she was older, she wasn't meek!
Patchouli had a mind of her own and didn't mind letting others know. When
test-ridden, she bucked and made it clear she preferred to be a pasture
ornament. So she spent the next four years living out her days as a pasture
ornament in a foster home. She began to decline and left this world due to
complications of old age.

BEHS 49 - Pearl
Rainbow Bridge 2011
Approx. 1988 Donkey jenny
Pearl was removed from negligent owners in 2005 and placed with Bluebonnet. She was adopted out to be a
companion to goats, then later returned, through no fault of her own. She was adopted again in 2008
by Linda D., and became a companion to her blind horse - and a favorite of the family. A few days ago,
Pearl's 33 yr old body started giving out and she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She left a family and
blind pasture mate that loved her very much. They will sorely miss her funny donkey antics and cute personality.
Our condolences to Linda D. and family.
RIP - Pearl - 1988-2011

BEHS 520 - Sir William
Rainbow Bridge December 2010
Sorrel gelding
Sir William was an approximately 6 year old, grade, stallion. He was removed from negligent owners who were
not only not feeding him, but were riding him with poorly fitting tack (that left saddle sores) and while he
was severely navicular, lame and in pain. He came to BEHS on December 16, 2010 and was let go a few hours later
after an examination by a veterinarian.
Sir William would like to thank:

BEHS 566 - Sir Winston
Rainbow Bridge August 2011
Dark bay gelding
Sir Winston was surrendered to his local animal control officers when his owners couldn’t care for him. They placed with him BEHS and he moved straight
into a foster home. He was slightly lame when he arrived at his foster home, and his lameness continued to worsen as he put on weight. A veterinarian
determined that he had foundered in the past and was also severely arthritic in the rear end. As he gained weight, he would continue to worsen. The
hard decision was made to let Sir Winston go with a full belly before his pain grew any worse.

BEHS 412 - Tex
Rainbow Bridge 2011
Approx. 1985 Paint gelding
Many of you know and remember that Tex and some of the other BEHS horses were on ABC's Nightline in 2009.
The story was on the drought in Texas and its effects on rescue, and we actually went with the TV crew out
to Tex’s owner’s place and picked him up – she couldn’t afford to feed him. He looked pitiful and was
really the face of rescue. He came home with a Bluebonnet member that night and was with her for several
months before he moved over to his long term foster home. Kristin finished his rehab. and he looked awesome.
She spoiled him rotten and loved him – showing him off at the Expo! Unfortunately a few days ago, Tex stopped
eating and got lethargic. He spent a few days with the vet, but his ancient body had just given out on him.
Kristin took him some peaches this morning (his favorite treat) and spent time with him before the vet helped
him cross the Rainbow Bridge. Good bye old man!
Tex would like to thank:

BEHS 521 - Timothy
Rainbow Bridge January 27, 2011
Gelding
We love the stories where we are able to rescue horses from a neglectful situation, heal the wounds, fill
the bellies, and move them on to new and happy lives. Unfortunately, we have times where we arrive too
late for that and the only kind thing to do is end the suffering. Timothy was one of those horses.
Timothy would like to thank:
