Name - Abby Breed - Standard donkey Gender - Jenny DOB - 2000
Height - 13 hands Registration - None Color/Markings - Brown Arrived: 1/13/2006, returned to BEHS June 2008
Bio: Abby is a cute donkey with the longest ears! Abby is a great guard donkey for smaller animals like goats. She is not vicious toward dogs, but will suggest to them that they leave the pasture. She is not the easiest to catch in an open field, although will follow a bucket into a pen, where she can be caught easily. She is current on all shots and has had her teeth floated (July 2008) and is on a regular 8 week hoof trim schedule. Abby is a little on the heavier side so her adopter will need to be careful not to over-feed her. She is a very easy keeper on pasture with a small amount of daily grain.
History: Abby was removed from negligent owners along with her herd and placed with BEHS by the courts. She was adopted out as a pet and companion for several goats in 2006 but when her adoptive home recently sold their land, they returned her and her pasture mate, Pearl, to BEHS.
Health/Lameness:None known.
Abilities: Abby is a lovely companion. She is sweet and cute and an easy keeper. She could possibly be trained for riding or pulling a cart but has not had any training to date.
Other: Abby is stubborn. She is difficult to load in a trailer but fine once she is in. She does not kick or rear, but plants her hooves in the ground and refuses to step up into the trailer, even when virtually being lifted in. She leads with not too much difficulty.
