Name - Celeste Breed - Draft -(Possibly Belgian/Suffolk Cross)
Gender - Filly DOB
- 2006 Height - 12.2 Registration
- None Color/Markings - Chestnut
Arrived: 8/13/06
Bio:
Celeste was surrendered to BEHS when
her owners were investigated for neglect.
History: She is the foal of BEHS-112, Sophy. She was not handled until BEHS picked her up.
Health/Lameness: When Celeste arrived, she had a massive hock infection. She spent several months with a veterinarian who treated her hock. The infection is cleared, but the hock is enlarged and weaker than normal. Because of this, she cannot be ridden and may have trouble bearing weight as she ages.
Abilities:Because of her hock injury, Celeste is available as a pet/companion only. She'll look gorgeous in someone's pasture and be a loving pet.
Other: Celeste's adopter should be aware that as she grows, her formerly infected leg (back right) will need to be closely monitored for soundness, as it starts bearing the weight of a large, heavy draft horse.
Celeste is a typical youngster, sometimes nipping and even biting. While it may appear playful, she is going to be a large, strong horse and will need a calm and fair, but firm handler to let her know when her behavoir is inappropriate. Celeste will do best with someone experienced with young horses.
She really does enjoy having people around and her foster mom doesn't let her get away with any shaningans so Celeste is learning her boundaries well.
Her right hock is still larger than the left hock, but she gets around well on it and it doesn't bother her very often, but her foster mom says that she paces instead of trots and usually only uses her left lead at the canter (which might be related to the old infection).
