Height - 15 hands
Registration - Yes, BEHS does not have the papers

Arrived: Returned October 2007

Bio: Eclipse was donated by his former owner when she could no longer keep him. He is a sweet and kind horse who was adopted as a pet (non-riding horse). Eclipse was returned to BEHS October 2007 through no fault of his own and is ready for adoption again.

History: She reported that he was dangerous under saddle, bucking and bolting when ridden. However three BEHS members rode Eclipse without a problem not long after he came into BEHS. He was adopted by a family and evaluated by a trainer who said he should not be ridden. He was returned in October 2007 and has a slight lameness.

Health/Lameness: Eclipse has an on-again/off-again lameness. He may have arthritis or an injured back, but he is pasture-sound. Eclipse has uneven wearing and some tooth loss and requires regular dental checks (every 6 months) to minimize further loss and damage.

Abilities:Since Eclipse has an on-again/off-again lameness and a previous ihstory of bucking and bad behavior under saddle, he is available a a companon/non-riding horse only.

Other: Eclipse shares a pasture with an older mare and is very protective of "his" mare, rarely letting her out of his sight. Eclipse is an easy keeper and can maintain his weight on good pasture alone, but is fed a couple of pounds of pellets each day. He loves his feed and will not share. Eclipse doesn't particularly care for grooming or other human touch but will tolerate it. Eclipse is smart and when the horse flies swarm, he'll come running to his foster mom for fly spray relief. During rain showers, he'll come running to be let into the barn. Eclipse can be entertaining to watch. He will occasionally snatch a coat or halter from the fence rail and twirl it. Eclipse will make a great companion for a lonely mare.
