Bio: Golden Butterfly was seized by law enforcement and awarded to BEHS.
History: : Nothing is known of Golden Butterfly’s history.
Health/Lameness: Golden Butterfly is missing part of her left ear due to some sort of trauma before
arriving at BEHS. She has an old eye injury in her right eye that left her with a small eyelid tear and corneal scarring, but she still has sight in that eye, although it may be
diminished in that area.
Abilities: Golden Butterfly is very easy to handle once caught, leads well,
ties, and walks easily into a trailer. When trimming her the first time, it seemed clear she was familiar with the process and held her feet up well for
the farrier. She knickers whenever she sees her foster mom, and has learned her new routine quickly. Her foster mom has ridden her at the walk and trot in a
ring and out in the field and has found her easy going and believes she would make a great trail horse. GB will walk on a tarp without hesitation and is generally
hard to spook She spent two weeks with a trainer in October 2011, he agrees that she seems to be broke to ride but doesn't know much.
He said she's heavy on the forehand and needs to learn to steer better. Both of these are things that can be fixed with training.
Other: When Golden Butterfly first came to BEHS, she was very needle
phobic. A trainer has worked with her and she recently (October 15, 2011) received annual shots and a Coggins test. She stood still aside from
tossing her head a little. She may need a confident handler as she will sometimes pin her ears and try to bite new handlers, but she is quickly won over with treats and kindness. |
