Name - Gracie Breed - Grade Gender - Mare DOB - Estimated 1980 Height - 14.1
Registration - None Color/Markings - Sorrel, blaze, bird catcher spots, roaning on face and ears Arrived: 8/19/06
Bio: Gracie
was donated by a kind person that had taken her in when her previous owners were no longer
able to care for her. She's a sweet mare with pretty good ground manners. She like attention but is not fond of having her muzzle handled
although she will tolerate it if you are consistent with her. She can be mareish with a good deal of squealing and kicking initially but seems to
get along well with other horses once she settles in.
History: Nothing is known of her history.
Health/Lameness: Gracie has a lump in her throat just behind her jaw. A veterinarian examined the
lump and believes that it is an enlarged gland. He says it is not a health concern. Gracie has very few teeth remaining and can not chew hay or grass.
Abilities: Gracie was evaluated by a trainer in a round pen. She appears to be well broke
but rusty. She neck reins and responds to leg cues and was quiet under saddle. Due to her size and age she is available as a companion horse only. Other then her teeth she
really doesn't look or act like a 20+ year-old horse.
Gracie isn't fond of the water hose or fly spray and requires some patience to spray her. She also
doesn't like her mouth/muzzle handled so you have to go slowly and patiently with her.
Other: Gracie is currently eating 5 lbs of Equine Senior twice per day and a combination
of 5 lbs of soaked shredded beet pulp and alfalfa pellets twice a day. Her adopter will need to keep her on a similar diet as she can not chew hay or grass. |
