Name - Hickory Breed - Grade Gender - Gelding) DOB - Approx. 2005
Height - 14.2 hands Registration -Not available Color/Markings - Bay Arrived: 7/18/2009
Bio: Hickory was seized from a neglectful owner along with several other horses.
History: : Nothing is known of Hickory's history.
Health/Lameness: Hickory is very healthy and shows no signs of having any lameness problems.
Abilities: Hickory is one of those very special boys that will need some special handling. He is frightened of human interaction although he
does not seem to be a “spooky” horse by nature. Since nothing is known of Hickory’s past, there is no way to tell if there has been any abuse.
Hickory was sent to a trainer for a couple of weeks for assessment and the trainer was able to touch him and get a halter on him although at this time, he will not allow any
further handling of his head. He can be caught with food and the foster home is working on touching his head enough to put a halter on and off.
It appears that Hickory truly wants to like humans and tries very hard to please but his “flight” instinct is still very strong. He is extremely intelligent and someday
he may make a fantastic trail horse as he is not frightened by noises, dogs, etc.
Other: Hickory would be a great choice for an experienced handler that is looking for a rewarding
project. He is one of the most intelligent horses that his foster home has ever had and he truly seems to WANT to like people, he is still just very frightened. He also has very
large “puppy-dog” eyes that truly seem to want to please.
