Bio:
Kaluha was seized due to neglect and awarded to BEHS.
History: Unknown
Health/Lameness:
Good physical health. Kaluha has trust issues, but is making proress in his foster home.
Abilities: He does appear to be very familiar with the round pen and follows directions well in the pen. He will now come into a small pen to eat and will now tolerate having the gate closed. He leads and loads fairly well but is easily spooked.
Other: Kaluha has a very kind eye and once haltered will eat feed from a hand and allow his face and neck to be rubbed. His feet are a very sensitive issue for him and will required a lot of work. We have been to a BLM gentling workshop recently and were given ideas and techniques that should help with his progress.
Update: He has never shown any aggression toward us or our horses. He still has trust issues, and is suspicious of anything new, but has come a long way. He will come and eat from our hand and allow us to stroke his side and rub on his neck and head. He is first to the barn to eat and really enjoys his treats! He loves the pond and when we let them out in the pasture, he often goes straight there. He still is getting better dealing with saddles and ropes and anyone riding. He is a connoisseur of peppermint treats and can smell them in my pocket from several feet away!!!
‘One step at a time’ is our motto for ‘K’, we’re getting there….’One step at a time’.
