Arrived: 3/25/06
Bio:
Mandy was donated to BEHS as
part of a herd of Welsh Mountain Ponies when their owner could not care for them.
She was wild and had little human interaction when she arrived.
History:
Mandy and her herd lived without human interaction and were left to run wild.
Health/Lameness:
None known.
Abilities:Mandy had not been handled at all when she arrived at BEHS and was very wild. Her foster home has spent a lot of time with her,
desensitizing her to their presence and to various items. They can now
catch her fairly easily in a small pen, pick up her front feet, and lead
her. She did stand for the veterinarian to administer vaccinations.
However Mandy is very leery of humans and anything new or unordinary.
She will never been be a good child's pony and will likely be nothing
more than a pet. She could be a companion to lonely horses.
Other: Watch a video of Mandi in the round pen.
Mandy's foster home has been unable to have her back feet trimmed because she kicks with both back feet when anyone tries to pick one up.
