Name - Olive Oyl Breed - Thoroughbred Gender - Mare DOB - Approx. 1987
Height - 16 hands Registration - Jockey Club, but BEHS does not have her papers Color/Markings - Bay with star Arrived: 8/5/2005
Bio:Olive Oyl's owner surrendered her to BEHS when law enforcement officials began a neglect investigation.
At that time, she was severely emaciated. Olive Oyl is a sweet horse who loves attention. She is beautiful and has the personality to match.
History: Nothing is known of her history except since she is lip tattooed, she was probably race trained at one time.
Prior to coming into BEHS, Olive was in a mixed herd and was the lowest in the pecking order.
Health/Lameness: Olive has a very defined limp from her left back hip/leg area
on some days. We are unsure if this is arthritis or an old stifle injury. She will noticeably limp some days and has no limp at all on
others. She is not in pain and has not required any pain medication. Joint supplements were tried but did not seem to affect the limp. Even on the
days she limps, she is turned out in the pasture and will trot around without problems.
Abilities: Thanks to Olive Oyl's intermittent lameness, she is not suiable for riding. She would make a great pet.
Other: Olive Oyl will need an adopter with horse health experience,
or someone willing to work closely with a vet to make sure her health is maintained.
