Bio:
A mare and foal were found estray in Lee county. Lee county Sheriff department awarded them to BEHS after the appropriate time
limit for owner to claim expired. Peyton is the dam of BEHS #218 Scooter
History: Peyton was adopted in 2008 and was
recently returned by her adopter through no fault of hers.
Health/Lameness: Peyton's back teeth are worn down
enough that she is no longer able to chew her hay correctly. As a result, she will need to be fed alfalfa cubes or pellets the rest of her life and her hay must be limited to prevent choking.
Abilities: Peyton accepted and held a bit with no problem at all. She understands moving around
her handler in a circle, but hard to say she's been taught to lunge. Peyton is broke to ride and is gaited. It is unclear how much she knows, but she saddles perfectly and
carries a rider with no problem. She will continue to be worked with until she is adopted.
Other: Peyton is very submissive, even to the goats in her foster home She shies away from anything
she isn't comfortable with. She has never bolted, just moves away to avoid whatever it is. Her foster mom has been working to build her confidence, but she is most comfortable in
the company of another horse. Peyton willingly gives all four feet, was wonderful for the vet, and is safe on the ground for anyone to handle. |
