Name - River Bio: River was removed from negligent owners by law enforcement and awarded to BEHS. History: River's former owner told animal control officers that he was trained to second level dressage. We cannot verify whether or not that is accurate. Health/Lameness: River has no known health or lameness problems. Abilities: River appears to be a very well-trained horse. He is easy to catch, load and blanket. He stands tied for grooming and saddling and lifts all four feet for cleaning or trimming. He longes well and line drives/long reins very well. He stands for saddling and bridling. His foster home has ridden him in a field in an English saddle. He walks, trots and canters under saddle and moves off a combination of leg and rein aids. He appears to know how to leg yield and with proper muscling should be able to collect nicely. He's not spooky or goofy under saddle or on the ground. He should make someone a very nice riding horse and could also be shown. Other: Although only recently gelded, River is turned out daily with another gelding. After 10-15 minutes of squealing when they were first introduced, they settled down and have been fine ever since. |
