Name - Sabine Breed - Grade Gender - Mare DOB - Approx. 2002
Height - 15 hands Registration -Not available Color/Markings - Bay with star Arrived: 7/15/2009
Bio: Sabine was found estray with 5 other mares in Burleson County. The horses were
awarded to BEHS when no owner was found.
History: : Nothing is known of Sabine's history.
Health/Lameness: Sabine has an old tendon injury to one back leg. It causes
an on-again/off-again lameness. She seems to be sound in pasture but is sometimes off when worked with in the round pen.
Abilities: Sabine is a very elegant looking mare. We don't know her breed
but suspect she's a Thoroughbred cross. When she arrived at BEHS, she was not even halter broke but she has come a long ways. A previous foster home
taught her to give to pressure, stand tied, be fly-sprayed, be bathed and be saddled and bridled. Her next foster home sent her to a trainer who said he
really liked her. He said he was riding her and she was doing well. He did comment that she is a little ticklish on her belly so the girth/cinch will
have to be tightened slowly & carefully. She hasn't been ridden in a long time due to her lameness and had a bucking issue the last time she was
ridden. If someone wants to work with her, she might be an occasional riding horse.
Other: Unfortunately Sabine has an old-injury that leaves her lame occasionally. She's listed as a companion only/pet/non-riding horse. If an adopter
decides to work with her and can ride her sometimes when she is sound, we'll be happy. Sabine would also be happy being a pet and companion. She gets
along well with other horses. |
