Name - Tequila Sunrise Breed - Grade, quarter horse type Gender - Mare DOB - Approximately May 2007
Height - 14.3 hands Registration - None Color/Markings - Palomino with blaze Arrived: 11/02/07
Bio: Sunny and several other herd mates came to BEHS thru a joint effort
with HSNT. The owner surrendered the herd of horses when it became apparent that HSNT was ready to forcibly remove them after one herd mate became an orphan as his dam was hit by a car and
killed.
History: We know very little about Sunny or the rest
of her herd. Most of them were not halter broke and very scared of humans. They were loose on approximately 70 acres.
Health/Lameness: Sunny appears to be in very good health.
Abilities: Sunny is as sweet as she is gorgeous. She tries to please, but due to her lack of handling
in the past her fear gets in the way at times. She is easily caught and haltered. She is used to a variety of animals and gets along well with all the horses in the herd. She was
adopted and returned through no fault of her own. While with her adopter, she learned to carry a saddle and carry a rider at the walk. She did develop some bad habits while with her
adopter, and she’ll need an experienced handler to help her overcome them. She’s got loads of potential for a lucky adopter.
Other: Training update August 2011: Sunny has been started under saddle in the round pen. She has gone
through a whole course of ground work, working on her issues and desensitizing her to scary surroundings. She has carried bags of cans and plastic bottles on her saddle, she has worked
in the round pen covered with a tarp and had the whole plastic bag treatment. She has gone over the obstacle course in the arena in hand and did well. The trainer commented that it appears
the more she is worked with, the sweeter she is becoming. She stood quietly for mounting and dismounting and walk, trotted, both ways and backed as well. The trainer says her trot is big, but
smooth and that while working her canter/lope appears to be smooth also. She is going to be doing a couple of days in the round pen and then move on to the arena.
