Bio:
Treasure was surrendered to BEHS when her owner was investigated for neglect. She and her mate were left in a pen with no food or water.
History: Treasure is the dam of BEHS #239 Aleeah
Health/Lameness:
She is blind in her left eye. She has cataracts in it, which is fixable with surgery, but she does fine as she is. She
occasionally bumps into a handler on that side because she can't see you
there, and she is a little nervous about being approached from that side,
but she settles quickly.
Abilities: She has had some training, but it has apparently been awhile. A trainer that is very good with young and/or unruly horses evaluated her. He said it is obvious that someone rode her at some point, as she has excellent ground manners (and a tie-down scar on her nose). However, when he climbed on she became increasingly nervous, tensing to the point that he felt it prudent to climb off, as she was preparing to explode. She did not respond to leg or hand aids at all once he was on her back. His recommendation is that she needs a "refresher course" with a trainer. It may be the case that someone with excellent riding skills could ride her now and work her through her issues, but it would be safer for her and her future adopter to seek professional help at first.
That said, she is very smart, and willing and socialable, and with a little
training will make someone an excellent horse!
Other: Treasure stands 15 hands tall and with her 4 white stockings and long white tail, she is very elegant looking. She gracefully turns her head and at times seems to be posing.
