Make no mistake. I know it is hard. There are days I have cried – at the loss of a horse, at frustration with our limitations, when someone has said something particularly unkind about our work, etc. There are days I’ve raged when we can’t get law enforcement to help needy horses, when a horse who comes in who has suffered at the hands of people who were supposed to love him, or when an adopter violates the adoption contract, etc. I worry a lot – will we have enough money to do our work? Where will we find more volunteers? Are we going to get these horses adopted out?
But I can’t imagine being anyplace else. We get to work together with other horse loves to help these beautiful creatures. We get to make a huge difference in their lives. AND we get to make a difference in the lives of the people who are lucky enough to adopt our horses. I have met the most amazing people because of Bluebonnet. I’ve got to ride and handle and love some fantastic horses.
When times are hard, when you wonder why you are involved in rescue, when you want to quit, please remember how important you are. How important are work is. How lucky we are.
You are important to each and every horse and human in this rescue. I hope you can take some time today to experience the joy that is horse rescue. For me, it is a joy to know and work with you.
