About Amanda
Amanda was surrendered to Bluebonnet when her owners were reported for neglect.
History
Nothing is known of Amanda’s history before coming to Bluebonnet.
Health / Lameness
Amanda exhibited some lameness when worked hard preparing for the Training Challenge. This could have been from an old injury or simply from not being accustomed to the work. She is not currently having any issues. Her foster home will continue to monitor this and consult with her veterinarian if needed.
Evaluation and Training
Amanda is a good-looking mare who is easy to get along with. She can be caught and haltered easily but she can be a little jumpy when first caught. She leads well, stands quietly when tied, and does not hesitate to load in a trailer. She is good with the farrier, lifting all four feet.
Amanda spent some time in training during the summer and fall of 2019 to be started her under saddle. An experienced rider could take her in almost any direction but a novice rider would need help finishing her training. She would be a nice pleasure or moderate trail riding partner. She is very green but she has great potential.
