About Amanda

Amanda was surrendered to Bluebonnet when her owners were reported for neglect.

Nothing is known of Amanda’s history before coming to Bluebonnet.

Health / Lameness

Amanda has no known health issues.

When Amanda started training, she was offwhen worked hard.  Her veterinarian discovered an old injury to a front leg.  He recommends she not be worked hard.

Evaluation and Training

Amanda is a good-looking mare who is easy to get along with.  She can be caught and haltered easily.  She leads well, stands quietly when tied, and does not hesitate to load in a trailer.  On a trip to the equine clinic, the veterinarian remarked on how quiet and well behaved she was.  Best of all, she is good with the farrier, lifting all four feet.

Amanda spent time with a trainer in the summer of 2019.  He worked with her on the ground and said she was pretty quiet and hard to get much reaction out of.  He also started her under saddle.  She’s very green.  She’s still learning how to steer but does work well off of leg pressure.  Her trainer thinks an experienced rider could take her in almost any direction but a novice rider would need help finishing her training off at this point.

Amanda does appear to have an old injury to one leg that bothers her a bit when worked hard.  So she’s not available for jumping, play days, hard trail riding (endurance or other strenuous trail riding), cattle work, or other hard work.  She would be a nice pleasure or moderate trail riding partner.
