About Pocahontas

Pocahontas was surrendered to animal control when her owner could no longer keep her, and then animal control placed her with Bluebonnet.

While Pocahontas was halter broke when she arrived at the rescue, it appears she had not had much other handling.

Health / Lameness

Pocahontas has no known health or lameness problems.

Pocahontas will be competing under saddle in the professional division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with trainer Darrell Gardner.  He will be available for adoption starting on October 19, 2019 at the Challenge competition during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in Taylor, Texas.

You can follow their progress on their Facebook page.

Evaluation and Training

Pocahontas hadn’t had much handling when she came to Bluebonnet.  She went straight to a trainer to compete in the Spring Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge.  Her trainer focused on getting her catchable and safe to handle on the ground and decided to not compete with her.  She’s going to need an experienced trainer who can continue bringing her along.  But she’s a nice sized horse who will be awesome for a lucky adopter!
