About Chico

Chico was removed from negligent owners and placed with Bluebonnet.

History

When Chico came to Bluebonnet, three of his four herdmates had passed away.  He was a new acquisition to his former home and had not had time to starve as his pasturemates had.  Nothing else is known of his history.

Health / Lameness

Chico has no known health or lameness problems.

Other

Chico will be competing in hand in the Non-Pro In Hand 12 and Under division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with non-pro Samantha Brown.  He will be available for adoption starting on October 19, 2019 at the Challenge competition during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in Taylor, Texas.

You can follow their progress on their Facebook page.

Evaluation and Training

Chico is an adorable guy who is a bit shy with new people. but he comes around quickly when shown kindness. He leads well, stands tied, wears a fly mask, and loads well.  He’s spent four months in the summer/fall of 2019 with a youth handler, and he’s been doing great.  He’s longing, carrying a saddle, and working over obstacles in hand.  He’s going to make someone an adorable and sweet pony with a little more training!
