About Yancy

Yancy came from a horrible seizure - a place other horses had died. He was the herd stallion, and once he gained weight he was gelded. He’s had to adjust to his new role in life, and he was adopted in 2010.  He was returned in 2012 because he wasn’t getting along with other horses in his pasture.  He was adopted later than year and returned in 2018 when his adopters decided to get out of horses.

History

Nothing is known of Yancy’s history before coming to BEHS.

Health / Lameness

Yancy has no known health or lameness problems.

Other

Yancy will be competing under saddle in the professional division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with trainer Holly Huffaker.  He will be available for adoption starting on October 20, 2018 at the Challenge competition during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in Austin, Texas.

Evaluation and Training

Yancy’s foster home says that he’s friendly and noisy.  He comes up to check everyone out, and he is easy to catch and leads well.  He stands tied, and he stands for the farrier.

In 2010, his foster home sent him for training.  He came home barn sour and very green.  He was then adopted by a family as a riding horse, but they ended up not riding.  So this year, he was enrolled in the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge to be restarted under saddle.  He’s done very well – his trainer has been riding him an arena and over obstacles . He’s such a nice horse and has enormous potential!
