About Gilda

Gilda was removed from owners for neglect and then placed with BEHS.  She turned out to be a quiet, although green, riding horse.  After she attended the 2013 Bluebonnet Horse Expo, her foster home decided to give her a home and turn her into her next riding horse.  She was returned in March 2017 as her foster home had to downsize.

History

Nothing is known of her history before coming to BEHS.

Health / Lameness

Gilda appears to have suffered some kind of injury to her hindquarters before coming to BEHS, but it does not seem to bother her.

Other

Gilda will be competing under saddle in the Non-Pro Under Saddle division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with non-pro Vickie Whitaker.  She will be available for adoption starting on October 21, 2017 at the Challenge competition during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in Austin, Texas.

You can follow their progress on their Facebook page.

Evaluation and Training

Gilda’s foster home says she’s very calm and quiet.  She can be a little hard to catch, but once caught she leads, loads, and stands for saddling and bridling.  She’s been ridden by a novice and was well-behaved under saddle.  She’s got potential as a kids’ horse with more training.  She could be a cute show horse, trail horse or pleasure horse.

She’s spending four months being ridden and preparing to compete in the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge.  Her Training Challenge partner says that Gilda is very sweet and willing and that she’s going to make someone an excellent trail or pleasure horse!
