Little Jake will be competing under saddle in the professional division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with trainer Zeb McLean.  He will be available for adoption starting on October 20, 2018 at the Challenge competition during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in Austin, Texas.

You can follow their progress on their Facebook page.

Evaluation and Training

He is friendly and curious but can be a bit shy and stand offish as he gets to know his handlers.  He is skittish with fly spray and new things.  He picks up his hooves, you can groom and brush him.  Once he inspects a newly introduced item he will come around and settle quick.  IF (were told from previous owner he was) he has been ridden in the past it was a brief time and probably has been sometime ago.  He needs much more handling and desensitizing before he can be properly started.

He’s being started under saddle and his trainer has been riding him in arenas and off the property.  We’re excited to see how they progress!
