About Star

Star was placed with Bluebonnet when her owner had to stop riding after an injury.  She quickly found an adopter and got to stay with her long-time companion Buck.

Star’s former owner said she had been kept as a pet and never trained to ride.  Her foster home introduced her to a friend of hers who fell in love and decided to adopt her and her pasture mate Buck.  She was adopted in February 2018 and returned late in 2019 when her adopter moved out of state.

Star attended the 2019 Bluebonnet Horse Expo and met her adopter.  Congratulations Star!

History

Star was kept as a pet by her former owner.

Evaluation and Training

Star is able to be caught, lead, and load.  She stands for saddling and bridling.

She was started under saddle by Alayna Fuller before she withdrew from the 2019 Training Challenge.  She was riding Star on trails and in an arena.  Trainer Hilary LoBue took her for 2 weeks in October 2019 for additional riding time.  Hilary says Star is tying well and getting better with the trailer but she is still a work in progress; she likes to back out rapidly.  Star will accept a bit but she was really reluctant to it and may still put her tongue over it.  She is really green and she bucks.  Her buck isn’t awful because she has to stop to do it so you can have a warning. She also will back up when she is “done” then throw in a buck if she has the opportunity. She isn’t spooky at all.  She is just really green and wiggling all over while riding, typical of a green horse.  She will have a solid foundation but will need an experienced rider or someone who is willing to work with a trainer to continue her training.
