About Cassiopeia

Cassiopeia was rescued from a neglect case, along with her 1 year old sister/pasture mate, Cissy, and five other horses, in May 2018.  She was very thin and very weak, but she is getting stronger and more energetic every day.  Cassiopeia is calm and sweet; she calls to her foster home with a little whinny when she goes out to see her. Cassiopeia is willing and careful.  Her foster home says that she foresees Cassiopeia as that special, smart and strong-willed mare that forms the bond of a lifetime with the right owner/rider that shows her leadership and trustworthiness.

We believe Cassiopeia has no training and little, if any, handling.  She’s getting started with leading, loading, grooming, picking up her feet and standing for the farrier.  She learns quickly and she is easy to catch.

Health / Lameness

None known.

Cassiopeia will be competing under saddle in the professional division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with trainer Saydea Bontke.  She will be available for adoption starting on May 4, 2019 at the Challenge competition during the Bluebonnet Horse HelpAHorse Show and Training Challenge in Sanger, Texas.

You can follow their progress on their Facebook page.

Evaluation and Training

Cassiopeia did not have any training when she came to Bluebonnet.  Her foster home taught her to lead, load, and stand for the farrier.  Cass was started under saddle by Saydea Bortke in early 2019.  Saydea has been riding her in an arena, down the road, and on trails.  Cass is excelleing at saddle work and is going to make someone an amazing horse!
