Class Descriptions

Halter Classes: These classes are to show off your horse's conformation or build. We need a side-shot of your horse so the judges can see how he's built.

Note:: Horses may be entered in only one type of halter class: pleasure type, stock type, or draft. They may not be entered in multiple types of classes.

Stock Type: quarter Horses, Paints, Appaloosas, and other 'stocky' type breeds should be shown in these classes.

Pleasure Type: Arabians, Morgans, gaited breeds, etc. should be shown in the pleasure horse classes.

Showmanship: In a showmanship class, the handler is judged on how well he shows off his horse on the ground. The horse may be shown in a halter or bridle. The best showmanship shots will be a handler standing with his horse, donkey, or mule or leading the horse, mule, or donkey at the walk or trot.

Pleasure: Horses should be shown under saddle in these classes. Action shots (at the walk, trot/jog, or canter/lope) or photos which show the horse standing still are both acceptable. Horses, donkeys, and mules are all allowed in the Pleasure classes.

Saddleseat Pleasure: Horses should be shown in a saddleseat saddle and appropriate bridle (double bridles are most common). Sidesaddle with approrpiate attire is also allowed.
