About Panola
Panola was donated by her owner when they could no longer care for her.
In 2023, Panola was diagnosed, and treated for, squamous cell carcinoma on her face. Although we currently do not see any signs of the cancer, she does need to be kept inside during the day or wear a fly mask to protect her pink skin from developing more cancerous spots.
In October 2024, Panola was diagnosed with fibrotic myopathy. This was caused by some kind of physical trauma to her muscles. While she’s pasture sound, this impacts her gait and she’s uncomfortable if worked or ridden. So, she’s available as a companion horse only.
Evaluation and Training
Panola can be tough to catch when out in a big pasture. Once caught, though, she is good to lead, stands for the farrier and grooming, and loads and trailers well. She would make someone a pretty pet and/or companion horse.
