About Mitch

Mitch was removed from negligent owners and placed with Bluebonnet by the courts.

Evaluation and Training

When Mitch arrived at Bluebonnet, he hadn't been handled much in a long time. He initially went to a foster home who worked on regaining his trust in humans. She said it was obvious he was a smart horse.

He learned (or relearned) how to be caught, lead, give to pressure, and stand tied. He learned to be bathed and have his hooves handled.

Mitch was enrolled in the Professional Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge in 2024. His trainer withdrew through no fault of Mitch's. While with the trainer, they did work on perfecting his groundwork and taught him to carry a saddle.

He's a smart and athletic horse who is ready for someone to continue his groundwork and start him under saddle. He'll need an expert or a very confident intermediate who is working with a trainer. Mitch was bred to be a working cow horse, and he would do best with someone who will keep him in consistent work.
