Saffire had not been handled much before coming to Bluebonnet. She initially went to a trainer to get halter trained, and she was then assigned to a professional for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She worked on Saffire's groundwork skills and getting her used to trail obstacles.

She did start Saffire under saddle, but she felt that Saffire would not be far enough along to safely show at the Expo. Because she was not handled much until she was about ten years old, Saffire needs more time to adjust to training and being a riding horse. Right now, she's still bucking sometimes under saddle and will need an Expert rider (or an advanced rider who will have her with a trainer) to get her going under saddle.

Saffire is a very smart and very athletic horse. She was bred to be a working cow horse and would do best in a home where she'll have a job and be worked with frequently/consistently.
