About Winter
Winter came to Bluebonnet when her owner could no longer care for her. She is sweet and loves attention.
Evaluation and Training
Winter is a sweet mare and comes to you in the pasture. As with many drafts, she can be a little pushy with her weight so needs a handler that knows how to stay safe when handling a large horse. She isn’t mean about it but doesn’t pay close attention to where the people's feet are.
Winter’s former owner said she was told she was broke to drive, but we don’t believe she has been driven. Her foster home has drafts that she drives, and she tried to harness Winter and said she acted like she had never seen a harness before.
She was evaluated by a trainer in October 2024 who believed that Winter had been ridden in the past. She didn’t mind being saddled and bridled, and the trainer could walk and trot her under saddle. She doesn’t seem to know a lot – she may have been ridden but not trained well.
She would a nice pleasure horse for someone who mostly wants to walk and trot.
