About Princess Fiona
Princess Fiona is the prettiest princess pony you’ll ever meet! She was transferred to us from another rescue to help find her forever family. Her past training is unknown, but since arriving, she has been learning quickly and showing off her spunky, nosey, and fun personality.
Princess Fiona is competing in the In-Hand 12 and Under Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Ella Isenberger. Princess Fiona will be available for adoption on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Training Challenge and Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, TX. Evaluation and Training
Personality & Manners:
- Very curious, spunky, and funny—like a nosy toddler who always wants to be involved in everything
- Especially fond of youth handlers; adults (especially men) make her more nervous
- Wants to be part of the family and loves being “one of the girls”
- Has been exposed to sheep, donkeys, dogs (big and small), cats, ducks, and rabbits—does well on a halter, but may be territorial when loose
Training & Abilities:
- Leads well and easy to halter
- Lunges in round pen and on lunge line at walk, trot, and canter
- Introduced to obstacles, trails, new arenas, and public events (with music, drums, animals, and crowds) in hand
- Working on ground tying and standing still
- Learned to like baths, fly spray, blankets, and handling of all four feet
- Will cross water, walk over obstacles, and follow on trail
- May have been ridden in the past; foster has sat on her and Fiona did not seem to mind it.
- Could be a good candidate for riding with further training
- Has done well at outings, including Tractor Supply’s Grand Opening, where she was calm around people, pets, music, and unusual sights and sounds
Background & Care:
- Best turned out where she can see others or kept in a herd
- Gains weight easily; grazing and diet should be monitored
- She can also be very mouthy & nippy with treats, no aggressive biting. Her foster home very RARELY use treats with training. We recommend not giving treats (or any food) by hand.
Why She’s Amazing:
Princess Fiona is full of life and loves being with her people—especially kids. She’s confident in new environments, learns quickly, and has the personality to make everyday fun. Whether she becomes a leadline pony, a mascot, or the beloved “princess” of a youth handler’s barn, she’s sure to bring joy and laughter everywhere she goes.
