About Sherwin Williams
Sherwin Williams is friendly, laid back, flashy pony gelding. He came to us from another rescue organization so we could provide him training and find him an adopter. Since arriving at Bluebonnet, he has made steady progress in his groundwork, confidence, and manners. He’s a curious guy who seems to love to learn and is going to make someone an awesome equine friend.
Sherwin Williams is competing in the In-Hand 13 and Up Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Catherine Reynolds. Sherwin Williams will be available for adoption on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Training Challenge and Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, TX. Evaluation and Training
Personality & Manners:
- He is laid-back, people-oriented, and loves attention
- Runs to the barn when called
- Enjoys travel and settles well in new environments
- Gets along with mares and geldings
- Tolerates dogs as long as they’re respectful
- Is patient at feeding time, even waiting while his barn mates finish eating
- His favorite things are his rubber grooming brush, the forced air dryer, and belly rubs.
Training & Abilities:
- Lunges, long-lines, responds well to voice commands
- Comfortable with tarps, tractors, lawnmowers, grooming tools, power tools, and busy barn life
- Easy to catch and halter, ties quietly, stands for grooming, fly spray, and baths
- Loads easily, even during a thunderstorm
- Has been introduced to both English and Western saddles, saddle pads, and enjoys belly rubs when leaned over
- Introduced to obstacles, trails, arenas, dogs, children, and other horses
Background & Care:
- He requires minimal feed to stay in good condition
- He does have allergies, so he takes a daily antihistamine.
Why He’s Amazing:
Sherwin Williams is an all-around good citizen and a great pony who just wants to be part of someone’s life. He’s happy free roaming in the barn aisle or tagging along while another horse is being ridden. At 45" tall, he’s the perfect size for a child’s riding pony (with training) or for an adult to bring along as a driving pony. He could also do in hand obstacles or learn liberty, or he would also be just as content simply being a pasture companion and best friend—he tries to be buddies with everyone he meets! This guy has so many amazing options depending on what his adopter wants to do.
