About Prince Caspian
Prince Caspian is a 2-year-old gray, pinto gelding who came to Bluebonnet with only minimal halter training. Despite his young age and limited experience, he has shown himself to be gentle, affectionate, and eager to learn. He may not always know what is being asked of him yet, but he tries hard to figure it out and enjoys attention from people. He’s spent the last four months with a family, getting used to daily life as a beloved member of the family and working on his skills. He’s ready to share his love with an adopter and their family!
Prince Caspian is competing in the In-Hand 12 and Under Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Emma Reinhardt. Prince Caspian will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center. You can follow their progress on their Facebook page CLICK HERE
The Expo and Training Challenge will be held on October 4, 2025, at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, Texas. For more information about the Expo CLICK HERE, or for information about adopting a challenge horse CLICK HERE.
Evaluation and Training
Personality & Manners:
- Very sweet and gentle-natured
- Friendly and affectionate towards people
- Loves to “talk” with other horses
- Training & Abilities
- Easy to catch and halter
- Leads right beside his handler
- Good with the farrier
- Lunges in the round pen and on a lunge line at the walk, trot, and canter (prefers to walk/trot)
- Has been introduced to obstacles and different arenas
- Loads and hauls easily
- Started on, line driving with a youth trainer
-Ridden five times by his foster and did well but clearly never really ridden before/does not know anything
Background & Care:
- Currently kept with mares; when turned out with geldings at his current home he displayed food-related aggression (chasing, biting, and kicking at feed time)
- Young and still tests boundaries occasionally, as expected for his age
Why He’s Amazing:
Prince Caspian has the best combination of a kind heart and a willing mind. He’s gentle, people-oriented, and eager to learn new things. With consistent handling and guidance, he’s going to grow into a wonderful partner for the right person. He’s got potential to become a riding or driving pony for someone able and willing to train him. He could also be a family pet or learn to do liberty work or compete in in hand obstacles.
