(June 16, 2005 Ingleside, Texas) Wildfire, a 10 year old, male horse, was several hundred pounds underweight when an Ingleside deputy obtained a warrant to remove him from his owner in June. Municipal Judge Cheryl M. Deal found Wildfire to be neglected under the Texas Health and Safety Code, Title 10 Health and Safety of Animals, Chapter 821 Treatment and Disposition of Animals, Subchapter A Treatment of Animals because he was ‘unreasonably deprived of necessary food and care”.

Municipal Judge Deal examined information from several rescues organizations before deciding to award custody of Wildfire to Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society – a Texas non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of equines throughout Texas and Arkansas. The rescue will continue rehabilitating Wildfire and then he will be placed in a carefully screened adoptive home.

If you would like to help horses like Wildfire, consider joining Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society or making a contribution to the organization.
