Gelding Assistance

The Bluebonnet Gelding Program is designed to address equine population and assist equine owners by offering low cost equine gelding.

In order to qualify for assistance: • The equine must be privately owned: no lesson programs, rescues, etc. • The equine must be the only intact male equid on the property. • The equine's owner must not be involved in breeding equines. • A veterinarian must perform the gelding surgery. • The owner must sign a statement agreeing that he/she is asking for gelding assistance, has made the decision to geld his/her equine without pressure from anyone associated with Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society and that he/she cannot afford the cost of gelding.

Priority will be given to veterinarians who offer discounted gelding services to equines helped through the Bluebonnet Gelding Program.

  • General Information (all fields must be completed. If non-applicable enter n/a)

This program is intended to help with the partial costs of either feed and hay or veterinary care for horses whose owners have suffered a temporary financial hardship such as loss of job, reduction in pay, divorce, medical bills, etc…

Priority is given to horse owners in Texas since that's where Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society operates.

Applying for this program does not guarantee will receive funds: we will help horse owners as long as we have funds for the program.

We will pay the feed store, hay supplier, or veterinarian directly (we will not be giving out money).

If you have any questions about the program, please contact Jennifer at jenn@bluebonnetequine.org. If may take several days for us to reply, depending on the volume of emails and applications we receive.
