We kicked off the season of giving with #GivingTuesday on December 3. Our goal was ambitious – to raise $17,000 which would then be matched by six generous matching donations and transformed into $34,000.
And you all, our wonderful Bluebonnet supporters, DID IT! You met, and even exceeded, our #GivingTuesday goal, so our entire year end giving drive is off to a fantastic start.
Thank you to each of our donors, and a special thanks to our matching donations:
The first $1,000 was matched by Sandra C.
The next $2,000 was matched by Chris and Chip in memory of Chris’ mom who passed away recently. Chris has been a foster for and supporter of Bluebonnet for several years, along with her daughter Sarah.
Chris says, “This donation is honoring my Mom, Catherine Holmes. She passed away recently, at her home in Keelby, England at the age of 93.
All my life she has supported and encouraged my love of horses and competing with them, and then in later years when I began volunteering and fostering BEHS rescued horses.”
The next $2,000 in donations was matched by Barbara. She says, “The amazing work you and all the BEHS volunteers do saving horses is never-ending and exhausting, and I am so grateful for your com passion and perseverance.”
Then Susan D and her workplaced matched $1,000 donations x 3 – turning that $1,000 into $4,000. Susan’s a founding member of Bluebonnet, volunteer, former adopter, former BOD member.
The next $5,000 was matched by Angela. She adopted Rowan from Bluebonnet after fostering him briefly a nd says, “”I support Bluebonnet because they help so many horses in so many ways. And they bring together people to do it.
I’ve seen this in action: I fostered and then adopted a wonderful horse from them. Not everyone can foster or adopt a horse, but everyone can help with donations, and every donation helps Bluebonnet help more horses”
The final $5,000 in donations was matched by an anonymous donor. She says, “I have recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of getting a horse and I have started lessons and riding as much as possible, wondering why I didn’t do this sooner. I am blessed in life and enjoy giving back.”
