Roy's owner lived in Mississippi and lost her barn to Hurricane Katrina. Roy had severe COPD and was having a hard time breathing in the heat and humidity without the aid of a fan and sprinkler. Although she loved him dearly and was devastated to part with him, she asked the rescue to take him and find him a home where he could get the care he needed. A foster home in west Texas volunteered, and the dry climate was just what he needed. He did so well that his foster home could discontinue his medications and even ride him (under veterinary supervision). His foster home felt they could give Roy the best home in a climate that agreed with him, so they adopted him.
