About Hugo
Hugo and his herdmate were removed from in negligent owners by law enforcement and placed with Bluebonnet by animal control. He placed 2nd in the Professional Under Saddle division of the Rescue Horse Training Challenge at the 2019 Bluebonnet Horse Expo and met her adopter. Congratulations Hugo!
Evaluation and Training
When Hugo arrived he was a nice horse to handle on the ground, but it appeared he hadn't had much, if any, training.
Hugo has spent June-October with trainer Sabine Lazo to be started under saddle. He quickly became a perfect gentleman about grooming, bathing, saddling, and having his hooves handled. They have focused on basics under saddle: walk, trot, stop, turns on the forehand, backing and even catching leads. They have moved on to navigating trail obstacles. His trainer says he is smart and learns quickly.
He is still green but is going to make someone a very nice riding horse. He has the potential to do anything his adopter would like to train him for!
