About Fawn

Fawn's former owner kept her and two other minis as pets and companions. They were only placed with Bluebonnet because their owner was unable to physically care for them any more. Fawn has been well cared for all of her life.

Fawn is missing her left eye. She was blind in that eye when she arrived, and it was misshapen. The eye was nonfunctional and regressing so her vet felt she would be more comfortable if it was removed. She recovered well from surgery, and her missing eye does not bother her. When leading her or handling her, you need to talk to her when you are on her left side to make sure she knows where you are.

Fawn was preparing for the Spring 2020 Training Challenge and was adopted by her training challenge partner! Congratulations!

Evaluation and Training

Fawn is too small to be ridden, but she’s a great size to be a pet. Her foster home says she loves to jump in hand (and her missing eye doesn't bother her a bit!). She is also great at navigating obstacles in hand and oculd do well in in-hand obstacle competitions.

She isn't a great mini for a beginner child, though, as she sometimes tests her handler. However she would do well with an adult or a child who has been around horses.

Fawn Is competing in the 2020 spring Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Because of COVID-19, this is a virtual event and you can watch the competition on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/Spring2020Challenge/. She is available for adoption and may be adopted for half price until June 20.
