About Astrid
Astrid and her herd mates were beloved pets and companions. They were only placed with Bluebonnet because their owner was unable to physically care for them any more. Astrid has been well cared for all of her life. Astrid's Christmas wish came true - she got adopted for Christmas day by her foster home! Astrid is over 30 years old, has Cushings, and is blind. Her foster home couldn't imagine forcing an older, blind horse to move to a home where she would have to readjust, learn where the fence lines, water buckets, and feed were. SO they decided to adopt her.
Due to her age, Cushings, and blindness, Astrid was the first of Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society's Hospice Adoptions. Due to her complications of her age and blindness, Astrid's adopter made the difficult decision to allow her to cross the rainbow bridge in the July 2021. She was very loved in her final home.
Evaluation and Training
Astrid is a bit leery of new people and situations, mostly because she cannot see. In her foster home, she has settled down and knows the confines of her stall and paddock and has a small pony who is able to go out with her. When her foster home leads her, she talks to her and she follows the sound of her voice.
