About Red River Tony
Red River Tony and his herdmates were removed from a negligent rescue in a joint effort between Camp County Sheriff’s Department, Safe Haven Equine Rescue, and the Humane Society of the US. The case involved over 150 horses , and Bluebonnet was one of many horse rescues who stepped up to give the horses homes.
Red River Tony was enrolled in the spring 2020 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge in Hand division. A potential adopter saw him online, went to met him, and had to have him. We’re so excited for them!
Evaluation and Training
Red River Tony is a young handsome and smart guy. He loads, unloads and trailers nicely. Stands quiet for the farrier and is pretty good with clippers. He is halter broke and currently working on ground manners. He works well on the lounge line and round pen, stops on voice command; he is even willing to go over obstacles. He takes to a saddle with out any problems too!
He has a good mind and a sweet disposition, kind eyes and just enough of the class clown antics to keep you laughing!
Red River Tony is too young to ride now but he will have all the skills and a solid work ethic to make someone a wonderful riding horse. Plus his Training Challenge trainer has been taking him to horse shows and obstacle competitions to compete in hand, and he's been in the ribbons! He's ready to make someone a nice show or pleasure horse.
Red River Tony will be competing in the in hand division of the Bluebonnet HelpAHorse Spring Training Challenge and Adoption Event with trainer Karen Freeman. He will be available for adoption starting on June 13, 2020 at the Challenge competition in Boyd, Texas (originally scheduled for May 2, 2020). You can follow their progress on their Facebook page.
