About Lil Man Tate

Lil Man Tate came to Bluebonnet when his owner was unable to keep him. He has a sweet personality but can be dominate with other horses when it comes to food. Otherwise, he gets along with his foster home’s other gelding.

Lil Man Tate is a registered American Quarter Horse gelding named Shine on Lil Peppy. He's a well-bred guy, although Bluebonnet does not have his papers. He could still be a nice ranch, trail, or open show horse for a lucky adopter.

Evaluation and Training

Lil Man Tate's donor reported that he was spent 30 days with an established trainer in Louisiana in 2014. The donor reported he only bucked when he was initially saddled but was fine after that. He had quick reflexes, good foot work, and easy lope. Unfortunately his previous owner was unable to continue his training beyond that.

Lil Man Tate's 2021 Challenge trainer said he started out very nervous and unsure of himself. She has brought him along slowly. She has done a lot of work to build him up physically so he can properly carry a rider. They have just been working in the round pen mostly. He can now walk, trot, and lope without issue on the lunge line or free in round pen. They have also been working under saddle in the round pen but he hasn't graduated to the outside just yet.

Lil Man Tate needs a patient and kind adopter who will continue his training.
