About Sheza Gypsy Rose
Sheza Gypsy Rose was placed with Bluebonnet when her owners could not keep her. She hadn't had much training when she arrived at the rescue.
One foster home had trouble with Gypsy Rose not doing well in her herd. She did not get along well with other horses, bonded with one horse, and did not want other horses near her. That has not happened in her other foster homes. Her current foster home says she is very sweet and a "pocket horse". She's just an old soul that get's along with all our other horses and put's up with any handler. Nothing causes her to look twice and she's extremely relaxed in every situation we've put her in. She still occasionally has a mind of her own but is super gentle.
Evaluation and Training
Sheza Gypsy Rose had not had much training when she arrived at the rescue. Her first foster home worked on her ground work: teaching her to longe, to move off in response to voice cues. They said she stood well for grooming and saddling. She would allow you to mount but would not move off under saddle.
Sheza Gypsy Rose spent January-March 2021 with trainer Crystall Bradley to prepare for the Training Challenge. Crystall withdrew from the Challenge before competing, but she did work with Gypsy Rose before withdrawing. They accomplished a handful of rides mostly in an arena but they also went on a few trail rides, following another horse.
Sheza Gypsy Rose has had her most recent training with SpiritHorse Horsemanship School under the care and training of Jeremiah Bowen. She will compete in the Fall 2021 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. We are confident that she will find her forever home due to her easy going and willing temperament. Her Challenge trainer believes she could be suitable for a novice rider with further training.
