About Rockstar

Rock Star came to Bluebonnet from a neglect case. He had not had much handling when he arrived, and he had a large growth on one hind leg. That growth was removed in late September 2020 and pathology was inconclusive. He has had several sets of x-rays then to check on his leg. His last set (May 2021) found a small bone chip, but both his veterinarian and a surgeon she consulted believe that the bone chip should not be removed and that he should be fine for regular work.

That leg will always have a hairless/scarred place and it occasionally bleeds when he bumps into things, but his veterinarian does not feel there is any cause for concern. He’s never been unsound on his leg – even immediately following surgery. He is a sweet guy who is very willing and adores attention.

Rock Star was returned in early 2024, through no fault of his own.

Evaluation and Training

Rock Star was barely halter broke when he arrived. He quickly learned to lead nicely and is learning to navigate trail obstacles in hand. He’s pretty fearless and should be a nice trail horse for someone eventually. We do not believe he should be started under saddle until he’s 3 ½-4 to give him plenty of time to grow.

Thank you to Pamela Villegas for donating her photography skills to capture the images of this beautiful boy!
