About Precious Petunia
Precious Petunia had an unfortunate beginning in life, when her mother starved to death, leaving her to fight for her life. Just in time, the Houston SPCA rescued Precious. At that time the vet indicated she had a body condition of “1” with a very poor prognosis for survival. The SPCA performed a miracle, putting her on the road to recovery. Her dam was reportedly a Standardbred, but her sire was unknown. She is unlikely to be a large horse. Precious may be gaited, as she appears to rack at times. Since her BEHS arrival, Precious Petunia has turned into a very special filly - as sweet as she is beautiful!
MISSING: Precious Petunia and Bunny were both adopted on November 2, 2021 to Kristin Tinnin in Waco, Texas. All adopters sign an adoption contract stating they will not give away, sell, or send to slaughter their adopted horse(s) and agree to allow periodic home visits/check ups. In January 2022, we reached out to Kristin to schedule their visit. She would not return calls, emails, or letters. An attorney who works for Bluebonnet also attempted to contact her but was unsuccessful.
We would like to find Bunny and Precious Petunia. If they are no longer with their original adopter, we do not want to take them away from a loving home but do want to get updated adoption paperwork and fulfill the promise we made these horses.
Evaluation and Training
Precious Petunia loves people, so catching and haltering her is a breeze. In fact, she has a tendency to “cling,” so she has to be reminded to respect the handler’s space. She can be touched all over and adores being groomed.
This filly leads easily, can be fly sprayed, and loads in a stock trailer. She stands very well for the farrier and has been tied for short periods of time in the presence of older horses. Overall, Precious is very trainable and wants to please.
