About Layla

Layla was surrendered to Bluebonnet when her owners were investigated for neglect. She appears very gentle and friendly. She is very easy to catch and seems to love attention. She has an old ligament injury in her front right lower leg. While it does not seem to cause any movement problems, it does leave her unrideable.

Evaluation and Training

We don’t know Layla’s history, but we believe she’s had a lot of riding experience in the past. Unfortunately, she suffered an injury before she came to us that leaves her unrideable. She still has a lot to give, though!

Layla has amazing ground manners. She is good to catch, lead, and load. She stands tied or in cross ties for grooming, fly spray, and the farrier. She navigates trail obstacles in hand and hasn’t minded whatever her young Training Challenge partner threw at her. She could be a great horse to show in liberty or in hand obstacles. She could also be a great pet – she loves grooming and attention. She adores people and doesn’t really just want to be a pasture ornament – she wants to spend some time with people. She’s been handled by both kids and adults and does well with everyone!

Layla won the Freestyle Event and Basic Skills Challenge for the In Hand division of the 2022 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She placed 2nd in the Obstacle course, and she was the Overall Champion for the In Hand Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge!
