About Crockett
Crockett was donated to Bluebonnet when his owner’s health issues prevented her from taking care of him. Crockett seems to be an easy-going, steady guy. He enjoys attention; especially if it involves treats! He is willing and has a great temperament. Crocket has Fecal Water Syndrome. It does not hurt or impact him, except that his adopter will need to be willing to wash down his hind legs when they get messy.

Evaluation and Training
His former owner said he was previously ridden by adults and children. She reported he can be head-shy, but the current foster has not yet seen evidence of that.
When he arrived, Crockett’s ground manners were rusty, and he was unfamiliar with round-pen work. His foster home has been working with him on the ground and in the round pen, and he’s now respectful and doing well.
Crocket and his foster home have spent several months preparing for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She rides him in a bosal and says that is what he seems most comfortable with. She’s been riding him at a walk and trot in the round pen, arena, and open field and a trainer will be helping her work through cantering him before the event. She’s also introduced him to both obstacles in hand and under saddle and trails.
His current rider says he would probably be fine with a confident beginner or with an intermediate rider, and she believes with more training, he could be good with kids. Her 13-year-old son has been riding him, under supervision, and they do well together – but she says Crockett will test him by trying to stop at gates, going too close under trees, etc. so he will need a child rider who has some experience.
Crockett is competing in the Non-Pro Under Saddle Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Torri Whitaker. Crockett will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 8, 2022, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center.
Crockett completed the training challenge and was adopted that very day!
