Ventura hadn’t been handled much in the years before coming to Bluebonnet. His foster home said he was high strung and sensitive, so he spent a few months with trainers Ryan and Jennifer Skinner. They worked with him on the ground to give him a solid foundation and then started him under saddle.

Ventura spent the summer of 2022 with an amateur rider. They worked on ground work together and she rode Ventura a few times at a walk and trot in the round pen. He and his Challenge partner didn’t click, and she withdrew from the competition. He went to Meredith Bernard for riding two weeks before the competition and still competed.

He then went home with trainer Dawn Fraser for additional training in October 2022. Dawn revisited his ground work and then began riding him. She's worked on riding him out where he can move but also teaching him to come back to her and stand still and relax. He has been out on trails and working in the arena.

He's not a beginner's horse at this time, but he is a willing horse who really could be a nice pleasure trail, competitive trail, or working horse for the right adopter.
